Most likely it will not help. You need to find out the reason of the malfunction. If it's software problem, then it might a good idea to install Seven.
If it's a hardware problem, new OS will not fix, you need to do so.
PS: Seven higher requirements for hardware, you might want to consider a fresh copy of Xp.
