To take down an old house antenna, first ensure your safety by wearing gloves and using a sturdy ladder. Disconnect any cables from the antenna and the house, then carefully unscrew or unbolt the antenna from its mount, taking care not to damage the roof or surrounding structures. If the antenna is large or difficult to remove, consider enlisting help to safely lower it down. Finally, dispose of the antenna and any associated materials responsibly.
If the antenna on your 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon won't go down, it could be due to a faulty power antenna motor, a broken antenna mast, or a problem with the wiring. First, check for any visible damage to the antenna and make sure the radio is turned off. If the antenna is stuck, you might be able to manually pull it down, but this could damage it further. If the issue persists, consider consulting a mechanic or replacing the antenna assembly.
Remove the nut, spacer and bushing that holds down the antenna on the outside car body. Then turn the radio ON. As the antenna extends out, carefully pull out the antenna mast. There will be a plastic portion with teeth at the end. Remember the direction of teeth. When you install the new antenna, the teeth will go in that direction. Insert the new antenna into the antenna housing. Make sure the antenna teeth engages the antenna motor by moving the antenna up & down. Turn the radio OFF and the antenna motor will pull the antenna back in. Reinstall the nut, spacer, bushing and you're done.

The antenna mast is about $40.00 which comes as part of the nylon cord. The motor that drives the antenna must bestill working. The procedure to fix takes about 15 minutes. Remove the nut that secures the antenna and slowly pull the antenna out od the socket. Take the new antenna with the nylon leadand feed it into the socket hole.
