Your desktop monitor has in-built speakers When you put in the headphone sound comes from both the headphone and the speakers How do you stop the sound from the speakers with headphone jack attached?
Answer headphones and speakers work Mine will do this if the headphone jack is not completely seated in the plug. Just give a little push and see if it goes on in any further, you may feel or hear a little click as it seats itself.

Generally speakers are plug-and-play. If you have tried that and it didn't work go to your control panel to 'Sounds and Audio Devices' to 'Speaker settings' then 'Advanced' and change the scroll bar to 'Headphones'
Answer . \nbecause speakers need a lot more power to make the same amount of sound so if you have speakers just plugged into a headphone jack they will seem very very quiet
If your Dell laptop has a headphones jack but no line-out jack can you still connect a 5.1 surround sound speaker system to it?
It could work . You can connect the 5.1 speaker system to the dell laptop as long as the cable is not an optical or digital cable. Some cables double analog or digital. These you can use. You should be able to plug them in if the connector fits. You may not have sound out of all of your speak…ers but you can still try. If the plug will fit then nothing can be hurt. If it does not work you might try getting an external usb sound card(e.g. soundblaster mp3) I hope that answers your question. ( Full Answer )
I just checked mine out and found a button next to the left headphone plug. It seems the buttom will either let you use headphones or speakers but not both. Hope this helps.
You can simply buy a headset for your phone, and plug it in. What I don't like is you only have one speaker. I know phone carriers sell actual headphones for cellular phones, but they're pretty pricy.
Do you need a new soundcard for your computer if when you put on your music and listen to them through the speakers or a headphones and the sounds comes all distorted?
Answer . Usually if this happens, yes unfortunately you need a new sound card. Sometimes it is only a piece of audio software that is set to change the sound.
How do you add a headphone socket to the speaker wires so that the speakers disconnect when the headphones are plugged in?
ANSWER . Each speaker is driven by a pair of wires coming from the amplifier. One wire is "live" and the other wire is "ground". There are two little contacts in the headphone socket which connect the amplifier's live outputs to the headphones when the headphone jack is inserted. When the headpho…ne jack is removed the contacts reconnect the outputs to the speakers.. So it's important to connect the "live" side of each of the speaker lines to these switches - not the "ground" wires which should stay connected to the speakers!. Because headphones usually have a much higher impedance than speakers the headphones will draw a lot less power from the amplifier but that won't do it any harm so there is no need to add any extra resistors in the leads.. ANSWER . Connect it to one side of the speaker line. You'd better have a resistor in the lead going to the earphone. ( Full Answer )
They were not designed to be used that way so don't do it! Speakers have a much lower impedance than headphones so your MP3 player, DVD player (or whatever device it is that just has headphone sockets) may be damaged if you plug speakers into it. That's because the speakers will try to take much mor…e power from the headphone socket than it may be capable of giving.. The correct way to drive a pair of speakers is to use a booster amplifier which has been designed to plug into the headphone sockets and has its own separate source of power from batteries or a mains adaptor.. Or just use one of the many "booster boxes" which come complete with an amplifier, neat mini-speakers and sometimes a mains power supply too. ( Full Answer )

It sends out sound from the computer. A sound that you choose, whether its a voice, music, etc..
1991 lebaron back speakers stopped working..front speakers sound TERRIBLE like you have headphones or something..it happened the same time my cigarette lighter and horn went out also...?
sounds like a loose ground somewhere. good luck finding it, would be easier to rewire it all.
My computer is always making staticy noises and I mean with sound. Even with headphones in the speaker jack. It changes according to what the computer is doing like erasing text. Any solutions?
Sounds like perhaps the speakers are not plugged in securely. If you check this and it is plugged in all the way, move the cord around near each end and if it makes noises in sync with your movement with the cord, it's a bad cord. If that doesn't do anything, move the cord around in different spots …from one end of the cord to the other, if it makes noise as you do it, it's the cord. If that doesn't do anything, hold the end of the plug, the end that plugs into your computer and try moving it around. When you do this, you will not be able to move anything physically but all you are trying to do is move the port that the plug is plugged into just enough to cause it to make the noise. If it doesn't make any noise. . .I don't know what the problem is! It sounds like the cord though. Whatever the problem is. . .it is'NT the computer! It's the speakers! Maybe even the speakers themselves! I wish you the best! ( Full Answer )
you can tell its a speaker if its a box or shell, and one end has a grate or mesh covering, there will be a wire coming out of the side opposite to the grill. this wire needs to be plugged into your amp, computer, or sub woofer, depending on your PC audio setup, for more information, contact your PC… manufacturer, or try www.fixya.com. Now onto headphones. you can recognize headphones by their distictive "U" shape. there will be bulbus ends on this "U" shape and on the inner part will be soft cusions. you want to invert this "u" so it looks like "n", then place the cusions over your ears so as to sit comfortably and completely cover them. plug the wire into a hole of the smae size with a picture of the headphones themselves near it, or the word "headphones". In all cases, a plugged in speaker or headphone will sound out if you play a song, etc. while plugged in. ( Full Answer )
You plugged a car speaker into your zenith allegro sound system through the headphone jack and you think you shorted the system out can you fix the sound system?
The headphone jack is actually wired with resistors so the headphones don't get the full amplifiers output. The only way you can fry the speaker system, is to send voltage back through the headphone jack and/or crank the volume all the way up with a short or no speaker connection. Check speaker fuse…s! ( Full Answer )
Technically, yes. However, a headphone jack does not provide a great deal of power, so you would probably need an amplifier for the sound output to actually be audible.
How do you turn on speakers when ipod says all sound effects are turned on-the volumn is set high-it plays sound effects through the speaker-but music and video sound only plays through headphones?

The left-ear speaker's made for your left ear(and vice-versa) so you can hear better. Stereo music is mixed with the intention that certain instruments will appear in different locations in the the stereo spread (somewhere between left and right). To accurately recreate the intentions of the music… producer, you must put the headphones on for the intended ears. Orchestral music is recorded in stereo with a specific arrangement of instruments on the stage (violins on the left, for example). To recreate the sound as you would hear it from the audience, you must put the earphones on the correct ears. ( Full Answer )
How about getting a suitable adapter cable and plugging the other end into a hi fi system and then use headphones and speakers. Alternatively you can try plugging in the headphones halfway. It works apparently.
Basically, the difference between stereo speakers and mono speakers are that different sounds can come out of different speakers. For instance, if in a movie a gunshot was made to the right of the viewer, the sound would be made to come out of the right speaker as to give more of a feeling of being …there. ( Full Answer )
Speakers use pulses of electricity to activate a small electromagnet that surrounds another magnet. it has a plastic covering, so as to mimic the vibration of our vocal chords and make noise.
Speakers and Headphones are output devices . A microphone, sometimes integrated with speakers, is an input device.
Your question is a little vague. Most speakers and headphones do not have a data connection to a computer, only electrical. Thus they will not show up in the Device Manager
with skullcandy earbuds i have found if you take the little mesh metal piece that you hear sound out of, out, they not only work again but play much louder. now this is only true with the in ear earbuds. not the over ear, or on ear.
sound travels from the computer to the speakers where sound waves pick up and the sound gets played
speakers make the musis louder while headphones make the music go directly to your ears, this makes you the only person able to hear it.
I have an advent 7211 laptop running on Vista and my speakers have a crackly sound. However when I use headphones or external speakers there is no problem.Any ideas how to fix it?
Try updating the driver for your audio setup. A good tool for this is Drivermax from innovative solutions. If this fails, you can go to the sound options in control panel and press the 'set to default' button unless you know what to do. If this fails, take your computer to a technician unless …you know how to remove the soundcard and speakers, reseat them, or replace them (unadvisable unless you know what you are doing). Some speakers does/does not have any type of recognition to be a speakers, and if your computer find it as headphones you just have to go to the control panel, then on the sound panel and just go on setting and manually change it. There are many options, and you have to make them all fit your needs.… ( Full Answer )
no its better to listen with the speaker because it will start to make scratches in your ears
Many televisions do not have headphone jacks anymore. Almost every TV that has a headphone jack will shut off its internal speakers when the headphones are connected. You should look at wireless headphones that will connect to the audio output of the television instead of the headphone jack if you n…eed to use both at the same time. ( Full Answer )
When i plug my headphones into my TV no sound comes out of my headphones but they still come out of my tv speakers. I want to use my headphones to listen to sound from my Ps3.?
a mess up in the headphone? you may need a new tv or new headphones The headphone jack in the TV are switched so that the TV's speakers are turned off when you plug in the phones. This jack has been broken on your TV, so you need to get that part fixed (if it is a more recent TV) or replace the T…V (if it is older). Note that the part itself is cheap, but getting at the jack can take several hours, which may make the repair more expensive than purchasing a new set. You can plug the audio output of the PS3 into a stereo system that has a headphone jack if you wish to listen to it. ( Full Answer )
Where can you get good quality speakers that will fit inside headphones I need for headphones I am making?
I don't know what to tell you. Excellent speakers designed for conventional speaker cabinets are widely available, but high quality headphone sized speakers I know of no source for.
How do i connect my tv which is a Digital Audio Out connection to my computer speakers which have a 3.5mm Headphone Jack connection so that my TVs sound will play out of the speakers?
Unless your computer speakers have a digital audio input, you won't be able to just use a cable. If your TV has two RCA line outputs (audio outputs), you can get an adapter cable to run to your computer speakers. You could upgrade your speakers to models that have a digital input, but most of those… are higher-end surround-type systems. ( Full Answer )
Is there a way of leaving your headphone jack in your tv and switching to the tv speakers without taking the headphone jack out from the tv?
The headphone jack switches the speakers off automatically on most televisions, so you won't be able to disable this function without doing electrical surgery on your television.
How do you fix your inspiron 531 speakers when you put your headphones in the jack they work but when you just use the speakers they wont on the sound levels they say that the speaker is working?
The problem is in the headphone jack. It has a switch that shuts off the speakers when you plug in headphones, but that switch is stuck on. You will have to have the jack replaced if it is built in to the motherboard or on a connector on the front of the tower, or you can replace the sound card.
When you plug your headphones into your computer it reads it as a speaker and nothing plays out of them?
It likely that you plugged your headphones into the wrong jack. There should be a jack for your headphones on your computer that has the head-phones label on it, not the one with speakers or for a microphone.
No headphone are made which have the same response as the long-discontinued NS-10m's. The closest headphones to that response would probably be the AKG K171 Mk II.
"Yes, you can do this. Home stereos always have one thing, and that is a head phone jack so if you don't want to disturb other people in your home you can still listen to music."
Would need a bit more info on what you're listening to/where you are. Crackling on a radio is weak signal....maybe a video you're watching has bad sound. Otherwise the headphones aren't very good or damaged. Replace them or maybe fiddle with the wires a little.
When I'm wearing headphones the sound come out my speakers on the laptop when i get a message on skype. How do I stop this?
The same happens to me, and if you call someone, the other audio(eg music) plays in the internal speakers, while your call plays inthe headphones. I sent a message to the HP facebook page, they toldme to install a previous BIOS, but that didn't work. I think itmight be to do with the Beats audio fun…ction, but I'm not sure. Ifanyone finds ourt can they tell me? thanks. ( Full Answer )
Speakers are attached to computers for the output of sound. Sound cards are required in the computer for speakers to function. Speakers range from simple; two-speaker output devices to surround-sound and multichannel units.
I have a lime green, soft pillow, called the idream. I am not sure of it is still on the market, but try googling it. It plays the music at just the right volume to fall asleep to. My friend has a pink one.
Many amplifiers automatically disconnect the speakers when a headphone plug is inserted, unplug the headphones and the speakers should come back on.
Is there a way to manually mute certain speakers in a situation with a defective headphone plug in where sound comes out of both headphones and built in laptop speakers?
Nope - if your sound is coming from both the headphones and the built-in speakers, it's your headphone socket in the laptop - not the plug that's at fault ! Basically an audio socket is a switch. While no external speakers (ie headphones) are connected, its internal components direct the sound t…o the computer's built-in speakers. Inserting a plug into the socket breaks the connection to the internal speaker circuitry, and directs the sound to the headphones. ( Full Answer )
The headphone outlet will not have enough power to make a speaker work unless it is self powered. This means the speaker has an amplifier inside the case.
Yes, i had mine for about a week and after listening to bass heavy music at full blast i think they just gave out
Why my right speaker of my headphones stopped working suddenly i was watching movie and not moving at all?
It can probradly be that the headphones are old or not workinganymore so i prefer you to buy another one and if it still notworking there something from in your computer
Usually, you just plug in the headphones, and that mutes thebuilt-in speakers. If the speakers don't mute, make sure the plugis the right size for the PC's jack (the plug should not have anywiggle when it is plugged in), and that it is plugged in all theway into the jack.
