A bitch on heat is basically the dog equivalent of a period. A female dog is called a bitch. A male dog is called a dog. The female comes into heat once every 6 months or so. There will be some small amount of bleeding during the first part, normally lasts about 2-3 weeks. This is to help clean out the build up of uterine tissue inside of the uterus. Best thing to do is to spay your female when she is not in heat.
Usually heat cycles last for around two weeks. Every dog is different so it may be longer.
Well you could get another dog. so the dog isn't lonely. and keep him busy with toyss and his favorite dog food and such
No. Many dogs that go in to heat earlier are the ones that are bigger and can mature faster. The bigger breeds, such as a great dane or so, would go into heat much faster then a chihuahua for example. This si because the great dane can mature faster then the chihuahua.
Answer. You can tell if your dog is on heat if theirthingy is bigger than usual and they do bleed.Sometimes your dog has a fantum pregnancy which is where your dog thinks its pregnant (and its not)so i hope that this info helps:)
Dogs whine for a lot of reasons. This could be one of them. Dogs can tell by the smell when another dog is in estrus, so an intact male dog might very well whine to get out to visit a nearby female in heat. A neutered male probably won't care much.
Keep her away from males that you don't want her to breed with, so that an accidental breeding doesn't happen. She won't stop the male from mating, unless she is about to come out of her heat cycle, so you'll have to keep them separated.
