It's called Nickle Contact Dermatitis. Your body has the ability to liberate the nickle salts from cheaper metals and there fore you end up with "reactions", not infections. If you enjoy body jewellery consider buying actually body jewellery from a professional body piercing studio. The cheaper material will always react when it comes in contact with your skin.

I pierced my earlobes 3 times and all 3 times it got infected even though I religiously followed the aftercare. I pierced my belly button this year and it's been 4 months and hasn't given me any problems even though I have sensitive skin. Also, the earlobes have much better blood supply than the belly button.
