Yes, it has spread to half of the area already.
Unless she coughed on you or you shared a glas no real danger. It spreads like ordinary flu. Just breathing in the same room is not going to give you H1N1.
Unless you were tested when you were ill, there is really no way to know for sure which type of flu you may have had. If you were not tested at the time, to be sure you have immunity to the swine flu, it is advised that you get a vaccination. It will not hurt you if you already had the same flu, and it can prevent another illness if the flu you had was a different strain. For best protection from the flu during the 2009-2010 flu season, get both a swine flu vaccination and a seasonal flu vaccination.
The swine flu is diagnosed by taking a flu swab from both nostrils. I work in a busy ER and the most common and accurate method seems to be a Nasal wash. A few drops of saline are put in both nostrils and suctioned out. This is then sent to lab and a person is diagnosed with either Influenza A or B or is negative.Technically not everyone who tests positive for influenza is being checked for the swine flu, but either Influenza A or B. The CDC has a random sampling rule for deciding which positive flu washes or swabs are sent for confirmation.I am not sure of the percentages but I believe that approximately 80% of Influenza A is the Swine Flu.My guess is that the CDC is just including all of those who test positive as having the Swine flu.
That is a hard question to answer and is decided by each school district or individual school if swine flu cases are present in their systems. Regardless of when schools are shut down, any student diagnosed with swine flu should stay home until all chance of infecting others is over and they are completely over it.
