Your pet is hurt and bleeding what should you do?

One day when i walked into my room, my pet rat was laying on the ground in his cage, the bedding was bloody, and his tail apeared to be injured. the night before, i had been worried because his tail was scabbed over, but it looked like an old injury, so i left it alone. anyway, i ran over, but his tail wasnt hurt at all, he must have just dragged it through the bloody bedding. under further investigation, i foudn that his foot, had a huge-monguos injury on the bottom and was bleeding moderatley. What i suggest if your animal is injured, is that you keep it calm. nothing is worse than a panicked injured animal. also,, if a wound is bleeding profusley press a clean rag against it to stop bleeding. the most important thing of all, is to KEEP THE WOUND CLEAN, you do not want to get it infected.

Stopping the bleeding is the first priority. If it is a traumatic injury you should get the dog to your veterinarian to evaluate the extent of the damage.
