when a engine runs too hot it usually warps the heads & causes the valves to stick causing rattling,& it also gets so hot it spreads oil away from components and spalding or pitting occurs; But , there is really no easy fix, it is pretty costly to repair..............
Look at the half shaft.
It certainly sounds like the engine seized for lack of lubrication
sounds like a flat battery get a battery charger or jumpstart it with jump leads
When water is put into a intake of a warm or hot engine, normally the engine will have valve damage, or possibley even crank shaft damage if a large amount of water (like from flood waters) was introduced.
i have the same thing but i get the sound at low speeds. once the car hits 20 mph or so, the sound goes away. i just had three valves replaced at the shop as the check engine light popped on and now that the new valves are in, i have this noise. shop owner claims that this is normal and is the sound of the fuel injector working... not sure that i believe his reply. any thoughts?
um, it could be that the engine is cold and needs to allow lubrication of all the parts on start, you could be using wrong oil, oil could be low. push come to shove it could be as bad as main berrings are gone or even a bent rod, so start with the oil and hope for the best, any bent rods or main berrings gone it would be cheaper to buy an engine from salvage
This question is about a 97 Pontiac Transport Van.
If this is a 4 wheel drive the clicking comes from a bad axle cv joint
pee on the engine it will cool down
if the sound of the engine cranking sounds unusual, your timing belt has snapped.
i have the same problem, but now my engine wont turn. makes clicking noise. been told its the bottom end of the engine as its a common fault.
When a CV joint goes bad you will hear a clicking noise coming from the front end. Which ever way you turn the outside wheel will click due to the load going to that wheel and you will hear a distinct clicking sound. If you drive on it long enough it can completely fail and can get quite costly you should go out now and get a new one if it is bad. You do not want to have to pay for a tow and risk tearing up the internals to your engine by driving on a bad CV!
