Post-secondary educational institutions may have a general program for engineering- with specific courses for aerospace engineering, or it may have a specific program devised for the training and education of aerospace engineers.

Upon graduation, aerospace engineers must be licensed by the state. This licensing process requires a bachelors degree, four years of engineering work, as well as written examinations. There may be other requirements that may vary from state to state. Aerospace engineers may also have to demonstrate adequate knowledge of safety requirements and protocols in order to ensure that safety standards are satisfactorily met.

Licensed aerospace engineers can expect to make upwards of $40,000 to $50,000 dollars upon starting in the career field, depending upon the employer. Aerospace engineers can make up to $125,000 dollars or more, depending upon their skill level, experiences, employer and economic conditions.
