Hybrid cars have advanced technology which includes an electric motor, batteries to store electric power and a regenerative braking system to supply that power. You will generally pay about 20% over the cost of a traditionally powered similar vehicle when you buy a hybrid. The break-even point varies depending on several variables, but do not expect to recoup your additional initial investment before 2-4 years of ownership.
