When children and parents think of boarding schools, they may think they are a place to go when the child is behaving in a way that is bad. However, boarding schools offer more than just a way for parents to instill discipline in their children. The schools teach manners and etiquette to the children who attend them.

There are boarding schools all across the United States. One boarding school that many students go to is the Crane Union School in Oregon. Students have to get up when the sun comes up, often before if it is in the summer. This school is a public boarding school. Most boarding schools are private. The school has many of the same family members working there and running different areas of the school. Meals are served during the day, and sports are offered through the year. The students live together at the school the entire week. They are involved in sports, dance, leadership activities and career classes. Many of the students who attend the school will go on to college because they have received a more in depth education than some other high schools. Most of the students know everyone that attends the school. Students can rely on each other when they need someone to talk to or if they need help with homework. There are about 1500 students at the boarding school. There are cows and other farm animals near the school so that the students can help to take care of them.
