WHICH MODEL, BOLT ACTION, LEVER ACTION ,SEMI AUTO???????????
There are many different types. There are pistols, rifles and shot guns. Pistols can be semi auto or single shot or a revolver. Rifles can be semi auto or full auto or bolt action or single shot or lever action. Shotguns can be semi auto or pump or single or double shot.
Semi-auto requires the hammer to be cocked for the first shot.
The semi-auto rifle
For the first shot, a single action auto, like the 1911A1 .45 auto, must have the hammer cocked manually. A double action auto, like the P38 can be fired by pulling the trigger without cocking the hammer. Trigger pull alone causes hammer to rise and fall.

The action also chambers the next round to be fired.

They refer to this handgun as the browning model BDA (browning double action auto) pistol.
For open carry and hunting, federal law alows you to have any type of rifle which is not a machine gun or a short barrelled rifle. That means any caliber up through .50 cal in any action type including break action, bolt action, pump action, lever action, or semi-auto. Full-auto (machine guns) are highly restricted.
