You could but this is not a very practicable way to run an air pump. There will have to be a large amount of batteries in series and parallel connections to add up to the amp hour capacity to run the air pump. Just use an old 12 volt car battery for your project.

pump is located in gas tank can be accessed beneath back seat for screws hold panel to floor of car remove panel then you can see the ga lines and electrical wires to the pump disconnect wires and check for voltage when ign turned on. one plug goes to fuel gage other plug to pump. watch fuel gage go down when its plug disconnected. check voltage to other plug when ign on should be 12 v if no voltage then fuse or other sensor bad. if voltage present could be bad pump.
