The teenage years are a confusing time when challenging parental authority is a common tactic. Most teenagers keep their attempts at rebellion within accepted levels, although occasionally a young man or woman gets out of control and takes things a step too far. An overwhelmed parent may not know what to do in this circumstances. Military may seem like a good option, but it is a bit extreme.

A teen who gets into legal trouble may find that this situation is already decided for him and his parents. He may be sent to a boot camp for teens. The program uses a military-style environment to make a teen reevaluate his behavior, learn discipline and learn boundaries. The experience is not meant to be pleasant, but for some, it may be the chance they need to avoid spending time in a juvenile detention facility.

A boot camp for teens will not engage in physical violence and thankfully, unlike a military boot camp, will not teach a violent and troubled adolescent how to effectively use weapons. Instead, the teen will be placed through a variety and physical challenges. At the end, he will come out with an attitude adjustment and slightly more physically fit, if the program has been successful.

The drill sergeant of a boot camp for teens division will not hurt the participants and may not be allowed to touch them, unless certain conditions are violated. The drill sergeant will use tactics such as yelling, getting in the participant’s face, and making him or her do push-ups.

Although a judge may order it as a punishment for a teenager, a parent may decide to send their wayward child to such a program without intervention from the legal system. Sometimes a teen may e given the option to go to this or leave the home of his parents or the option of going to a boot camp. Neither one is a pleasant option, but it may serve as a wake-up call for the party that’s involved.�
