Plastic Wrap

This may be one of the cheapest ways to fix a drafty window. Although there are things you can buy at the store that do the same job, a little bit of plastic wrap and some masking tape can go a long way. Use the plastic wrap during the winter to add an extra barrier between the cold and your home. Make sure, however, that the wrap is perfectly placed on your window in tight sheets that are secured by a good amount of tape. With this extra protection, your windows will let in much less cold than they did before the application of the plastic.

You might be surprised how much a good set of curtains can do for your drafty windows. With black out curtains, the fabric acts as another barrier to keep the cold out on a windy day. Everything that you put up to seal air from getting in also helps to insulate from letting the heat from your heating and cooling unit from escaping.
