Software test engineer jobs are best geared towards the engineer who loves building off of the ideas of another. As testing of software usually occurs during the entire process, the software test engineer must at times be able to provide accurate estimates based on incomplete information.

A software test engineer will have to keep detailed reports of sessions, writing down all bugs in reports, and sometimes must come up with the procedures by which to test the product. As this will often require a re configuration of software and operating systems, the software test engineer must have detailed knowledge of whatever software and operating systems are being used.

The software test engineer will also be expected to provide his or her expertise on these re configured systems.
