For example, the citizen could tell the politician that he or she would vote for that politician if they did something for them. If the politician or the police officer were offered a bribe but did not take it, they would want to prove that they were innocent. They would have to show that they did not do what the person wanted or did not take the money. A bribery lawyer in this capacity would have to make sure that the person was not sent to jail unfairly.
