When a home owner pictures their garage or basement, the image almost always includes a gray concrete floor. Until recently, these cold concrete floors have been the standard for concrete flooring. Recently, however, home owners have discovered that it’s possible to stain a concrete floor. These stains are easy to use, and available in a wide variety of colors and hues. The garage or basement floor can now match the decor of the rest of the house.
Concrete stain is available at almost any paint store or home improvement store. Because they come in a wide variety of colors, it’s important to test the colors that are being considered. The shades and hues of the color may vary depending on the shade of the concrete, so it’s a good idea to test any color before staining the entire floor. Most stores that sell concrete stain will have a sample to test with. It is recommended to test on an area of the floor that is out of sight.
The next task will be to clean and repair the concrete floor. Any cracks or pieces of dirt on the floor will become more apparent once the stain is applied. After any cracks have been repaired and all dirt has been swept up and vacuumed, it’s a good idea to wash the concrete floor. A wet vac is the perfect tool for this. Taking this step before staining the floor will guarantee that the finished product will be exactly what the home owner has in mind.
Most concrete stains require that they be mixed with water. It’s a good idea to read any documentation that came with the stain, or any instructions on the side of the can. Once the stain is prepared, it’s ready to be applied. It’s always a good idea to start at the back of the room being stained. Ideally, one person should use a sprayer to spray on the stain, while a second person will follow behind using a broom to scrub in the solution. The broom may leave brush stroke marks, so it’s a good idea to go back over an area with the sprayer to apply a second coat.
This strategy can be used to systematically stain the entire concrete floor. Once the stain is applied, it will require an amount of time to dry. During this time, no one should walk or touch the floor. Once it’s dry, the concrete should be cleaned again. After that, the work is done. The stained concrete floor is now part of the house, and not just a cold, gray floor.
aaah! bcoz it's concrete!
You will need existing floor to be clean and dry. Layering concrete like this is called a cold joint. Concrete does not like cold joints. That I why big jobs like the cn tower and Hoover dam are all one pour basically. If you have to do cold joints, clean base floor, rent a sacrifice tool at a rent shop, rough up the floor as much as possible, clean all dirt and dust again, cover floor with a bonding agent from a box store, pour new concrete. Over 2" is recommended. Another way to get it to hold is to drill holes into base floor or even put various concrete screws in base floor with just the heads sticking up a little bit so new concrete can grab.
Concrete is a good conductor of heat, which means it can quickly absorb and transfer heat away from your body when you touch it. This rapid transfer of heat can make the concrete feel cold to the touch, even if the actual temperature of the concrete is the same as the surrounding air.
The reason a concrete floor feels colder than a carpeted floor is because the carpet acts as an insulator to trap heat. The concrete on the other hand will stay cold way longer once it is cold.
Yes, concrete has form of "salvatory" element in it's mixture which can conduct heat or cold. Like on a sunny afternoon, the concrete becomes hot; likewise, on a cold night, the concrete becomes cold.
Not really. You will need to seal the concrete surface to prevent concrete dust becoming a problem. Also, the carpet makes the floor warmer to walk on, concrete would feel cold to bare feet.
The floor is cold?
Cement is a material that hardens when it is mixed with water. To keep it in good condition, in its powdered form before you mix it, you should keep it as dry as possible. A bare floor (that is, a bare concrete floor, or even worse, a bare earthen floor) can get cold, and if it gets cold there can be condensation, or dew. That moisture can then seep slowly into your bag of cement (which is usually stored in a paper bag that is not waterproof) and cause the cement to harden.
Well, that depends on many things like: Location - concrete is cold, so where are you? Use - what is it going to be used for? Finish - What kind of finish do you desire? Age - How old is the concrete? Cost - How much do you intend or plan on spending? Maintenance - which will depend on the type of material you use on your concrete floor. Certainly, if this concrete flooring is in your living space, you don't want to leave it bare. I've done some wonderful work with Acid Staining, where there's no limit to design. You can cut groves in the concrete to make it look like tile, and stain it to look like marble. Remember, though, that concrete flooring is colder than tile, wood, etc. You'll want to inspect your concrete for cracks, stains, solidity, and moisture. Prior to staining your concrete, you'll need to wash is really good, with acid, then neutralize it to remove ALL of the acid. So, to answer your question without getting too far off with something that you may not even be considering...yes, concrete flooring can be good, even beautiful, and livable. I've done concrete flooring in million dollar houses, as well as commercial jobs. I've done it more in commercial buildings than residential homes. I've only done 2 residential homes with acid stained concrete in the last year.
No. For any staining it must be dry and not too cold.
The natural color of concrete after it has cured is just a matte grey. It is a cold and unwelcoming color for most. Fortunately, there are ways to cover the concrete so that you can take advantage of the durability it provides while also making it aesthetically pleasing.Concrete stain can be purchased at most large hardware stores. It is an acid, so remember to also have safety gear around to protect your feet, eyes and hands at least. The concrete stain must be applied to an unfinished surface. This means that the concrete you want to stain must not have been treated with other acids or have had any type of catalysts mixed in with it. The stain will not work properly on these surfaces. The first step you will want to do, just as if you were staining a wall or a piece of furniture, is to fill any large cracks or holes. You do not have to do this, but if you would like a flat, pristine looking floor, you should. After that has dried, follow the manufacturers instructions on how to mix the stain (if necessary) and get ready to apply it. The process is really simple, actually. Just pour the stain out a little at a time and then use a firm bristled broom to work it into the concrete. Depending on the results you want, you may apply a second coat.Follow the manufacturers directions to see how long the stain should be left for. After the time has passed, use a solution of baking soda and water to clean the excess acid off the floor. Once done, allow the entire floor to fully dry. This can take anywhere from twelve to thirty-six hours depending on weather conditions. Now, for added durability over time, apply a concrete sealer. The sealer can be applied with a brush or roller. Usually two or three coats will due. The sealer will help to give your concrete floor longevity. If you really want to protect your stained floor, then you will also want to put down two to three layers of a finish on top of the sealer. This will protect the floor even more, provide a nice glossy finish, and allow you to clean the floor with less effort.Staining a concrete floor is not as difficult as it may seem if you take the right precautions and make sure that all of your products are designed to work harmoniously together.
Yes, while it is not stated in the show that he can transform, it has been told that everyone of freiza's race can transform.
