Society is constantly setting standards for people. A person must look this way or that to fit in. Families must do this or that to be approved. Magazines and reality shows have encouraged women to embrace their bodies. Women have spoken out about discrimination in the fashion industry. The tide is changing, and the fashion world must listen. Those fashion houses that do not take heed will lose a large potential consumer base. Full figured women are professionals, homemakers, and students; they desire designer plus sized clothing to fit their lifestyles.

There are some major retailers that have caught on to this market. Several plus size retailers cater to full figured women. These stores do offer some stylish clothing. However, there is still a limitation to the fashion styles. Women that are a size 14 or larger must choose something other than the fabulous dress on the rack in a size 10. The plus size options are often not as flattering. All clothing styles are not created for every body style; women do understand this. What may look appropriate on a small woman can be unattractive on someone of a larger size.
