One of the things that girls like about playing with their Barbie dolls is the clothes that they can put on them. There has been a change in the style of doll clothes from twenty years ago to now. The dolls, as well as the clothes, have gone from modest to flashy. Many of the clothes that are sold for Barbie dolls are based on what girls are wearing today. Some of the clothes are based on what teenage girls are wearing, and this is where the change beings.

Barbie does not wear the long skirts, dresses and jeans that she wore when she first came out. Now she wears clothing that is short, and it is revealing in some cases. Some parents do not like the clothes that are made for dolls. The dimensions of the doll require that the clothes are made in a specific way. Shirts have to fit over the chest of the doll, and many of the shirts that Barbie has now are cut low in the front. They also show the back more than shirts from a few years ago. There is glitter and designs on the clothes, as well as embellishments that can come off while the child is playing with the doll.

While many of the clothes for Barbie are may be too revealing for some girls to play with, there are clothes that you can find for Barbie that look elegant. Some outfits come in a package that includes three to four different styles. Most of them can be mixed with each other, so the child can have several different looks from one package. There are several different styles that these clothes come in. there is a set of pajamas that Barbie can wear that comes with bedroom slippers and a robe. Many of the packages have dresses that make Barbie look like she is going to a royal ball or a dance. These clothes are generally okay for girls to play with, and the ones that parents don't like can be disposed of. Most of the outfits that are not as modest are sold individually.
