A healthy diet means a diet that contains all of the nutrients needed by the body to survive and thrive. It also means a diet that can be sustained. Many of the fly by night diets which promise long term weight loss do not work simply because 1. the body is missing essential nutrients which will not allow for sustained continuance of that diet, and 2. if the diet is not sustained, then the body will revert to a hibernate mode.
