NCCCO certifications require written and practical examinations in the following areas: Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes , Swing Cab Telescopic Boom Cranes, Lattice Boom Truck Cranes, and Fixed cab Telescopic Boom Cranes. NCCCO certification also requires that the operator be proficient in all safety aspects of safety operation for the operation of crane and boom equipment.

Entry-level crane operators generally have a starting salary of approximately $27,400 per year. The median income for crane operators is approximately $44,140 per year.
