Companies today have to be conscious of how they do their hiring. To keep up a solid public reputation and adhere to certain laws, companies have to be vigilant about their policies. This means that every race, age, and creed has to have an equal opportunity to gain employment. The consequences for not adhering to these standards can be quite dire in many instances, so it becomes incredibly important for an equal employment opportunity manager to do a good job. Companies will pay nice salaries for people to manage this part of their hiring department.

Becoming an equal employment opportunity manager

A good place to start is with a background in human resource manager. Though this a more specialized part of the hiring world, the basics will still apply. If you have a background in hiring practices and have some knowledge of discriminatory law, you will be ahead of the curve in this field. The nice thing is that there are no special certification programs you have to complete to become an equal employment opportunity manager. You simple have to have the necessary skills to get the job done right.

What do they make?

This type of person can expect an entry-level salary in the $50,000 to $60,000 range. Much of the starting salary will depend upon your experience and what you can bring to that particular company. If you are able to land a position of power with a larger company, expect the salary to reflect this. As a manger, you have a chance to move up the ladder if you do a good job. The nice thing about the corporate world is that they are almost always hiring. This means they are always looking for smart people to improve their hiring. Compliance will always be a concern, as well.

What do they do?

These individuals keep the company honest. They make sure that the company is well within the legal hiring rules, and they help the company exceed those standards. They work on recruiting minority candidates for interviews and they help the company with its diversity overall. These individuals will work closely with the other employment professionals on staff.
