Lawn Care and Gardening

Teach your son the responsibilities of maintaining property. Mowing the lawn, watering and weeding the garden, trimming the bushes, and raking the leaves are all apart of household upkeep and being the man of the house. These are all chores that you and your son can get out of the way and enjoy each other company at the same time.

Paint

Get your son in touch with his artistic side. If you are good with drawing or painting the it may be time to redecorate a few rooms in the house. Find some fresh colors to add to the kitchen or family room and show your son how to be creative. For a lighter task, touch up all of those walls around the house where stains, scuff marks or peeling paint are waiting. A few buckets of paint and some paint brushes will do the job.

Build Models

Constructing model cars, trains, and airplanes are appealing to young men of every age. Put your manufacturing skills to the test and build something. If your son is not into cars and trains, consider building famous memorials or historical landmarks. Building your own models will hold memories that you can display in your home and cherish for years.

Minor Mechanics

Introduce your son to your vehicle. Pull the car out of the garage and give it a good wash and wax. If you are knowledgeable about cars, then change the tires, or check the oil and other engine fluids. Car maintenance is an important skill that every young man needs to know. You could even give him his first drivers lesson.
