Finding broadcasting jobs is not as difficult as some people seem to think, but that difficulty varies a lot depending on the type of job you're interested in finding. The ease of getting into broadcasting comes mostly from the diversity of the jobs that can be found in the broadcasting field. Where there is diversity, there is opportunity, and with the growing importance of broadcast journalism and television shows, the job market in broadcasting is only expected to open up.

The most important thing you can do is decide on the direction you want to take your burgeoning broadcasting career. Are you interested in production? That is, are you interested in set designs, cameras, writing, or anything along those lines? Are you interested in editing and music? Figuring out the direction you want to take is very important because you'll be basing a lot of your educational and job-seeking decisions off of that direction. After all, someone who is very interested in working the cameras may not necessarily be a good fit for a career in editing. This is why it's so important to have a solid direction before you ever even begin your search of broadcasting jobs.

Next, you need to decide whether you're going to try and find a "staff" job or if you're going to go the route of the freelancer. On staff, you'll have a set wage and you'll have a consistent paycheck. The consistency of these jobs is what makes them in such high demand, and they are much more difficult to get than freelancing jobs. Freelancers work for a company for the duration of a specific contract, then move on to the next job. The benefit of being a freelancer is that you're your own boss, with the obvious downside of added financial insecurity.

No matter what direction you decide to take in the broadcasting field, there are surely jobs out there for you. You may not land your perfect job right out of the gate, but if you're willing to work your way up from the bottom there is no reason you can't break into the world of broadcasting.
