The city of Fukuoka, Japan is the capital the Fukuoka Prefecture. It is located on Kyushu island’s northern shore. In a poll taken in 2010, Fukuoka was voted the fourteenth most livable city in the entire world. It is widely praised for the green spaces that are prevalent throughout it’s metropolitan setting.
Fukuoka has many great attractions that can be enjoyed by visitors to the city. One of the city’s greatest attractions is the Sky Dream Fukuoka. Located in the western ward of the city, this is one of the largest ferris wheels in the entire world. It is one hundred and twenty meters high. Fukuoka Castle is another exciting attraction. Next to Ohori Park, the castle features the ramparts and stone walls that are left from the fire that destroyed most of it during the Meiji Restoration. The destroyed areas were reconstructed in the 1950s and 1960s to make it a great place for tourists to visit. Very close to the castle is a fantastic art gallery.
