When interviewing a daycare for possible placement, ask for a written copy of their sick child policy. Check to see if it is well enforced when touring the facility. Also, keep in mind that home daycare facilities tend to be more lenient in letting sick children stay.
Inquire about the facilities immunization policy to ensure other children around your child have updated vaccinations.
Observe that the daycare employees are washing their hands before and after diapering and having the other children wash their hands as well. Check to see if they have more than one sink, a step stool for the children or sinks at their level.
Inquire about the facilities policy for disinfecting toys.
Keep your child home when they are sick, don’t just pump them up with medication.
Relax, your child will get sick and they will build up immunities to germs. Know that you are doing your best.
