So, if you’re a new fiction writer, you already have two strikes against you: ‘new’ and ‘fiction.’ In the event that you’re a stubborn soul and you still want to sell your fiction as a new writer, there are two avenues to explore.
The first option is to self-publish one of your books and treat sales of the book like a business. If you can sell over 100,000 copies on your own, you will attract a traditional publisher. If you don’t attract anyone, you can contact them and let them know you sold so many copies. If you can accomplish this difficult feat, publishers will accept your phone calls. Another option is to win a big writing contest. This might get you noticed. There are also writing contests that have a publishing contract as the prize.
