There are a lot of different healthcare jobs that you can consider, but one of the most common and desirable is a job working in the homes of the elderly. These people will not need to move to a nursing home or some other institution because they will still be very able to do things on their own. They will still be independent. However, they will have lost some basic skills that require them to need help. They may not be able to drive themselves to the store, or they may not be able to shower on their own. You will be hired to help them with these things.

Sometimes, your job may consist of making meals for the person or cleaning their home. A lot of your responsibilities will be dictated by them. You will go to the home for a set amount of time; typically shifts are between three and five hours long. The person will ask you to do anything that they feel is important. They may want you to clean the first time that you come, and then you will never have to do it again. The job can change a lot in this way.

This is a job that will generally start out with an hourly wage. Most people in these healthcare jobs make between eight and ten dollars an hour. They are paid for short shifts, but they may have a few shifts each day in order to have a full time position. Their pay can increase slightly as they gain more experience. You may start out by making only eight dollars an hour, but you will be making nine or ten after you have been working with the company for a year.

While all companies are different, you should note that you will not typically be given any benefits when you have a job like this. The company may only give you thirty or thirty-five hours a week in order to keep you from being eligible for benefits. They do this because of the high turnover rate. If you stay there for a long time, this too can change.
