Making a trip to Hollywood is a must-see for any vacation to California. The central location, just a little to the north of downtown Los Angeles, is a convenient launch pad to other sights and attractions such as Disneyland in Anaheim, Palm Springs in the Coachella Desert and easy access to the L.A. coastline to include the famed Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. With all that Hollywood has to offer, you will need at least one week to get your feet wet, two if you can get it. Sun, sand and surf are just minutes away and the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame is under foot.

Hollywood Boulevard is a great place to get out and walk, with many of the sights and attractions within easy reach on foot or a quick hop on the Los Angeles subway trains. The six and seven thousand blocks of Hollywood Blvd is situated in the heart of the action with the Mann’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Wax Museum, and the Kodak Theatre conveniently located across the street. Guided tours of the Kodak are available during the day which take their guests through the backstage workings of the theatre and a provides an interesting lecture of the history of Hollywood, the Academy Awards and the current performances at the Kodak.

If every member of your family will be traveling to Hollywood, there are a few special hotels in the city and it’s environs that will accept your pets. The Best Western Hotel, located at 6141 Franklin Avenue, nearby in West Hollywood, will take a maximum of two dogs with a deposit fee required per each night. Another handy alternative is the Chateau Marmont Hotel, located at 8122 Sunset Blvd. Additional pet friendly accommodations include the Sheraton Universal, Motel 6 Los Angeles-Hollywood, Le Montrose Suites and the Ramada near to Universal Studios.

Eating in Hollywood is an adventure in itself, with plenty of dining options from shoestring budget fast food to luxurious and trendy eateries. Two of the best places within a short walking distance from Hollywood and Vine Street include the Denny’s on Sunset Blvd and Kitchen 24 on Hollywood Blvd, both opened around the clock seven days a week.
