you say "Hi (or Hay)yall
people usually say "hi guys", it is because in the English language, people refer to guys as a group of people regardless of gender; in french, ils ont (they[masculine]) means a group of guys meaning boys/men. elles ont(they[feminine]) means a group of girls/women only difference is (other than gender) is elles ont is only made up of girls/women but if 1 male went into a group of males then it would become ils ont.I guess that is also why they say "hey guys" instead of "hey girls"
To sign 'hi' in American Sign Language, raise your dominant hand to shoulder height, palm facing outward, and wiggle your fingers in a small wave motion.
People say hi for traditions and to greet other people. It is used as a slang for the word hello.
