There are no standard tuition and fee rates for colleges and universities. Each institution will have rates particular to itself. There are a number of variables to consider to include whether the institution is public or private, the geographical location, the specific program of study (some of which have greater course and/or clinical fees), and whether the school is a two year or four year institution. Once you collect the names of some colleges and universities you have an interest in, you can then research the cost specific to those institutions.

[2012 Figures]

Tuition, books and fees, minus scholarships and Pell Grants, can run as little as a couple thousand dollars per year, for a state resident of a western public land grant school. Some exceptional students can qualify for "full ride" academic scholarships. A private Ivy League college can run up to $50,000 per year. Really good students could complete a bachelor's program in three years, whereas the average is a little over four years. The minimum for a four year degree will therefore be in the neighborhood of $8000, while the maximum tops out in the neighborhood of $400,000.

Sarah Lawrence College in New York, tuition room and board (not including books--which can come close to $1000 per semester), is almost $60,000 per year. Bennington College, in Vermont, is $55,000 per year, as is Dartmouth, Vassar, and Johns Hopkins.

Bellevue College, in Washington, is $5000 per year, as is the University of Texas at El Paso. Palm Beach State College, in Florida, is only $3,500 per year. Sitting Bull College in North Dakota is just under $1000 per year. Four year graduation rates at these schools tends to be lower than average.

The cost of a college or university bachelors degree today is dependent on the specific institution. The cost can run anywhere from approximately 20,000 to well over a 100,000. Typically, private schools will be more expensive than state schools. A good way to cut the tuition sex virtually in half, is to start at a community college, and then transfer to a four year institution after completion of the associates degree. Just make sure you are taking a transferable program of study.

This depends on the school; some schools do not charge per-credit, but per-semester. Look at the Admissions section for the website of the schools you're interested in, and check their pricing. Contact the financial department if you have any questions.

Is a commercial Pilot License equivalent to a bachelors degree?

Not really. A pilot's license says you know how to fly a plane. A bachelors degree says you know how to study and have a fairly well-rounded education outside of your specialty. A commercial pilot license is needed to get a job as a pilot, and the cost of getting one on your own is as much as (or more than) the cost of getting a Bachelors' degree and takes several years. Airlines might require a college degree in addition to a pilot's license. To be a military pilot, you have to be an officer. To get accepted to OCS (officer candidate school) you have to have a bachelor's degree already.
