There are many tools used for presentations and references. Creating a binder filled with organized content can serve useful to many viewers. Follow these steps to create a well thought out binder.

▪ Step 1: Determine the binder’s purpose. Binders have unlimited uses with a uniform purpose which is to contain information. They can be used to reference company policies, products, directories or as a point of reference.

▪ Step 2: Establish how many binders will be needed. One binder may be tempting to squeeze all the information into. If there is a large amount of content, you should break it up into two or more binders, possibly one category per binder. One heavy binder is less accessible than two smaller binders.

▪ Step 3: Decide on the style and organization of the binder. Organize the binder for ease of use for the viewer. Color may want to be introduced throughout the binder for added appeal. Use tabs and dividers or slip covers to organize your inserts into categories. Keeping your binder systematized will allow it’s viewers to find content easily.

▪ Step 4: Consider the content to be placed in the binder. Binders should have a table of contents at the beginning of the content. The table of contents references internal material fittingly.

▪ Step 5: Plan for circulation and further development. Leave room for future content additions. If you need to distribute copies, make certain you include these same copies within the binder.

▪ Step 6: Manage and maintain the binder. Update the contents regularly, especially if the binder contents are of extreme importance where viewers may utilize to assist them in decision making such as a company policy binder.

A well planned binder in many companies aids in creating and supporting employee production. Establish a binder with purpose, style and orderly content permits viewers to reference content easily and ask fewer questions.
