For the learner driver there are so many new things to pick up and remember that you can easily forget to check your mirrors. Or perhaps you’ve gotten into bad habits over the years, and have forgotten on numerous occasions to check your interior and exterior mirrors and this has landed you in trouble. It needn’t be that difficult so here’s how you should go about conducting the checks:
• Before setting off, make sure your mirrors are properly adjusted so it’s comfortable for you to check your surroundings without straining your neck.
• Whilst driving with both hands still on the steering wheel and eyes still straight ahead casually glance at your interior mirror to check the view behind you keeping a steady speed.
• If you are turning left then check your left exterior mirror first to look for anything that might be zipping up past you such as bicycles or motorbikes.
• If you are turning right, then be sure to check your right exterior mirrors and then your left one before turning.
• Once you’ve turned into the road you should always have a final check in your interior and exterior mirrors as the environment has just changed and there could be new hazards around you.
Finally it’s important to keep your mirrors in good condition by cleaning them regularly, as the exterior mirrors can often get clogged up with dirt and/or spider webs. Always reposition your mirrors if someone else has been driving your car, as failing to do so could result in unnecessary road accidents. The most important thing to remember is to get into good habits, or replace existing bad habits with better mirror check practices. Thus rejoining the community of safe drivers and setting a good example for any learner drivers or people new on the roads.

Whenever you are adjusting your seat you must check all mirrors in your car. If you don't have a clear view in the mirrors, then you must adjust them before you start driving. Always!

Check your two outside mirrors to see where your vehicle is in comparison to the lines on the road. This will come automatically with more driving experience.
When driving a vehicle, adjust the outside mirrors to minimize blind spots and enhance visibility. The side mirrors should be set so that the view of the road is just beyond the side of the vehicle, allowing you to see a portion of the car while maximizing the view of the lane beside you. This positioning helps to ensure that you have better awareness of vehicles approaching from behind or alongside. Regularly check your mirrors while driving to maintain awareness of your surroundings.
Everywhere. Mirrors, dials, in front and behind. Don't get distracted by looking at your reflection.
I suggest you to check whenever you have time like when the car in front of you is slow, when you are waiting for traffic lights, or when turning the car.

While driving, it's recommended to check your mirrors every 5 to 8 seconds. This practice helps maintain awareness of your surroundings, including other vehicles and potential hazards. Regular mirror checks enhance your situational awareness and contribute to safer driving. Remember to also scan the road ahead and check blind spots as needed.
