Custom wheels are an attractive automotive accessory that many car buffs enjoy seeing nice and shiny at all times. To keep your custom wheels looking your best follow these easy steps.

1. Clean off any Dirt and Debris Before the actual true cleaning process can begin, you need to park the car and turn off the engine. Then take a nearby water hose and aim the water spray at each of the four wheels. You should be trying to spray off all accumulated dust, grease, oil, caked on mud, or other road debris. Most of it will fall off beside the wheels and tires. Whatever doesn't come off with the hose, use your hand and a rag to rub into the debris or dirt and spray some more water until every part of the wheel is totally free of any foreign substance on it.

2. Dry Off and Use Scratch Remover Fully dry off the wheels and surrounding tire rubber with heavy-duty automotive towels. Make sure they're completely dry. Then open a can of scratch remover and carefully rub it on the surface of the custom wheels wherever you notice any nicks, small cracks, chipped marks and scratches. Rub the scratch removing compound into each wheel until it fully covers the entire exterior surface of each of the four wheels. Then allow to sit for five to ten minutes and then use a clean chamois to clean off the compound. You'll see how it easily removes most every scratch and nick.

3. Use Wheel Cleaner Open a jar of wheel cleaning compound. This is very different from the scratch removing compound. Apply the cleaning compound in small, circular motions to all parts of the wheel. Your goal is to get off all the residual substances that are embedded in the wheel but not very visible to the naked eye. Allow to dry five minutes then use a clean, heavy-duty towel to completely wipe off the cleaning compound. You should see some dirty patches on the towel. That's good because it means the wheels have been thoroughly cleaned.

4. Wheel Polish Finally, to make your custom wheels gleam, spread wheel polishing compound all over each of the four wheels after the cleaner is fully cleaned off. You need to allow this wheel polisher to remain on the wheels. You don't want to rub it off with a towel or chamois or anything else. You have to allow the high potency wheel polisher to sink and soak into the custom wheels so that they'll shine and glow with a superbly attractive coating.
