It is natural for a polyurethane foam gun to get stuck at times. It is highly expensive to replace the gun but if the amount of jamming mandates a replacement than there is no other option other than to get a replacement. However there are a few ways by which the jammed gun can be set right.
The materials that will be required for this task are Acetone, Scraper, Rubber gloves, Solvent and a bucket. Now that you have the materials ready, here are the steps to be followed:
Step 1 – Identify the cause
In any troubleshooting process identifying the problem and the root cause is the first major step. If this is not done, the problem may be solved for the moment but it might not be a permanent solution. Always start by inspecting the barrel of the polyurethane foam gun and look for any obstructions. A common mistake that people make is by leaving the insulation can attached to the polyurethane foam gun for a long time. In order to prevent this from happening again make sure the gun is rinsed after every time it is used.
Step 2 – Soaking
The next step after identifying the issue and the cause is to dissolve the gun in acetone, as it will help dissolve the polyurethane foam. This might sometimes work out and if it does not then the gun might have to be disassembled and then soaked in the solvent.
Step 3 – Dismantle the Gun
As mentioned in the above step, dismantling the gun will be required to soak each of the gun’s part in acetone. You can also try scraping the gun to get rid of any residues that might be the cause for the jam. Wearing gloves is always a good idea when working with solvent or acetone in order to protect the skin.
Step 4 – Maybe it’s time for a New Gun!
If all the above steps fail, then it is a sign that its time to buy a new gun! Of course you have tried all that you can and still if it can’t help solve the issues, then there is no harm in deciding to buy a new gun.
There are do-it-yourself polyurethane foam installation kits for sale at Fomo Foam. The kits come with foam and dispensing guns. There is a guide to polyurethane foam application at How To's and More. There are seven steps and pictures for each step.
Polyurethane foam insulation is the most popular insulation on the market today. It is easily installed, it is sprayed into the walls where it coats and hardens. All home improvement stores carry it.
CPI spray is made of Polyurethane Foam. Polyurethane Foam is made by adding water to polyurethane plastics.
The medical uses of Polyurethane Foam include wound dressings for exudating wounds. You can see a list of them at http://www.thomasnet.com/products/polyurethane-foam-30683502-1.html

HANDLING POLYURETHANE FOAM SAFELY1. Polyurethane foam is a by- product of the same process that is used to makepetroleum. It is highly flammable.2. Polyurethane foam ignites easily and burns rapidly. It should be kept awayopen flames and sparks.3.When it burns, polyurethane releases a great amount of heat and toxicfumes.4. Burning polyurethane can cause suffocation in a poorly ventilated area.5. Polyfunctional isocyanate and polyester polyol should be handled withgloves.6. DO NOT INGEST THE POLYURETHANE FOAM - some foams haveflame retardant additives that can be toxic if ingested. Whether or notthe foam you are working with contains them, it should not be ingestedor even placed in the mouth. (JUST LIKE ANY OTHERCHEMICAL!)
Polyurethane foam can be cleaned with a mixture of vinegar and water. Pour the solution on a soft cloth and rub the foam, rinse, and let dry.

Polyurethane will kill you if you eat it.
Polyurethane foam can potentially trigger allergic reactions in some individuals due to its chemical composition and off-gassing. It may not be considered hypoallergenic for those sensitive to chemicals or respiratory irritants.
The reaction between an isocyanate prepolymer and a polyol in the presence of a blowing agent with an amine as catalyst results in the formation of polyurethane foam. Different types of polyurethane foams like flexible polyurethane foam, rigid polyurethane foam, thermoplastic polyurethane etc. are widely used for a variety of purposes.Polyurethane foams are mainly used in bedding and carpet underlay, furniture, rigid foam insulation panels, gaskets, electrical potting compounds, durable elastomeric wheels & tires etc. With an increase in its applications, the market demand for PU foams is also increasing. There are several general trading companies that are well known to be the leading polyurethane foam suppliers, PU foam scrap supplier, polyurethane trim foam supplier etc. If you are concentrated in the UAE, the Middle East or African regions, then I would like to suggest the UAE based general trading company Fortune Emirates. They are the regular PU foam scrap supplier, polyurethane trim foam supplier and polyurethane foam suppliers in UAE. You can avail quality PU materials from this polyurethane foam supplier in UAE at pocket friendly prices.
