Binge eating and compulsive overeating are two common results of a ver low calorie diet. When you restrict the body's intake drastically, you might be overcome with a desire to make up those calories, resulting in binge eating. Often, this becomes a vicious cycle that can be hard to avoid. Here are some tips to end the cycle for good:
-Stop dieting. Try to focus on maintaing your weight, and eating the same amount of calories each day.
-Focus on healthy foods, not empty and unsatisfying calories.
-If you slip up, write it down and move on. Do not try to restrict yourself because of that mistake.
Eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder, have the potential to do harm to your body. If you feel your eating disorder is out of control, it is appropriate to see a doctor, specifically a psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of eating disorders. This is important because while binge eating disorder itself does not pose the risk of grievous harm to the body other than weight gain, it is often caused by the more serious problem of anxiety or depression. Also, binge eating disorder can quickly escalate to bulimia, which is very harmful to the body and can result in death. However, if you are not comfortable with seeing a medical professional for your binge eating disorder, there are some support groups both online and in community centers that can help you overcome your eating disorder. This is a viable option if you have strong motivation to end your eating disorder, if your eating disorder is not overly out of control, and you have the personal strength to better yourself.

The first part of the word 'binge' is pronounced like a garbage 'bin.' The last part is pronounced like the end of the word 'bridge.' (e.g., binj)
An example of binge eating would be having a long day- getting up early, getting the kids ready for school, going to work, taking a night class, coming home and doing a load of laundry, and then sitting down to a binge. Or it could be getting out of bed and eating one too many bowls of cereal, and then just not bothering to try and control eating for the rest of the day. Binging is a way to deal with everything that is going on around you, and it's a release from the world. It's very similar to a high you would receive from a drug, and it's also quite addicting. Binging is a way to deal with emotions. It's a way to deal with boredom or a breakup. If you are watching TV, some people need to eat something- some people need to constantly eat and graze, causing them to eat massive amounts of food. Bingers know they are eating too much- they just don't care. At least not at the time when they're binging, only because it feels too good. Afterwards, feelings of hopelessness, fatigue, and above all, guilt, are common. Let alone awful, awful stomach pains. So, an example of a binge. For some people a binge is 3 slices of pizza. For others, it is much more. An example of one of my binges: Start: 3:00pm 1 peanut butter sandwich (2 slices whole wheat bread, 2.5 Tbs. PB)- 450 cal. 1 non-fat Greek yogurt (YoCrunch, strawberry)- 180 cal. 1 sweet potato, large- 170 cal. 2 Fiber One bars (peanut butter and oats)- 300 cal. 1 can Valley Fresh white chicken, 4 oz.- 140 cal. 4 slices turkey lunchmeat- 100 cal. 2 tortillas- 340 cal. 2 bottles Muscle Milk light (chocolate)- 200 cal. 3 Clif bars (Chocolate brownie)- 750 cal. 2 bagels (8-grain)- 600 cal. 3 cups 8th Continent light vanilla soy milk- 180 cal. End: 4:30pm Total Calories: 3410

Binge drinking is drinking too much alcohol in too short a time. The result is often an alcoholic stupor and a night in the police cells, or attending the nearest Accident and Emergency hospital. Not a very pleasant way to end a night out!
It's okay, just resume normal eating, and eat healthy food and try not to overeat. The bset way to lose weight is to eat healthy and get regular exercise. Do not try to starve yourself into losing wieght, you'll just end up binge eating which will only cause you to gain weight. Good luck and God Bless.
Many bulimics do not lose weight at all. Many are actually overweight. Self-induced vomiting is a very poor method of weight control. Even if you throw up the moment after you finish eating, a significant amount of the food still gets digested. This is especially true if you binge instead of eating normal amounts of food. A lot of the calories still get absorbed. Vomiting also makes you exhausted, so you are less likely to exercise.
You can do a number of things to help 1. Encourage them to get help 2. Be supportive 3. Avoid insults, lectures and guilt trips 4. Set a good example and 5. Look after yourself. If they wont admit to the problem then it is really hard to help them but don't give up because they will in the end.
