How to Fish Bass in Spring

Fishing is a popular leisure time activity and the spring is one of the best times to catch bass.

Before you go fishing, make sure that you have the appropriate license and that you are familiar with the local regulations concerning bass fishing especially when the fishing season begins and ends.

Bass tend to spawn in waters that are between sixty-five and seventy degrees. Once they have finished, the bass move from the spawning bed towards deeper water. At this time, the bass are hungry and want to feed. Look for hollowed out holes in the shallow water as an indicator of the spawning beds. If you are using a boat, ensure that you move quietly through the area that you intend to fish. The shallow water will warm quickly and the bass will be near dead trees and logs or large rocks where the bass will wait to ambush bait fish. Try to match your lures to the bait fish that inhabits the area. Bass are particularly attracted to lures that mimic the action of their preferred natural forage. Cast your line to the shallow side and use a slow to medium retrieve. Incorporate lots of starts and stops. Two of the more popular techniques are yo-yoing and the straight crank method. Use an 8 to 12 lb test line.

Bass is a popular game fish because of its energy and tenacity.
