Part of human nature is curiosity about the future. Every since the dawn of time, men and women have tried to find hints of what is to come. Every culture has people who claim to be able to part the veils of time and predict the future. At least they will make the attempt for someone who is willing to pay them for their efforts.

There are many tools of the psychic trade: mirrors, crystal balls, cards, and line running across the palm of the hand. Each tool creates a specialization, that is, a palm reader may not be able to discern anything from a deck of tarot cards. Anyone who uses there tools can fall under the large umbrella of the word psychic.

This is one example of a psychic reading: a young woman passes by a shop every day with the sign “psychic” in the window. She finally gives in to curiosity and goes in to make an appointment. Luck is on her side and the psychic is free. A fee is agreed upon, the woman pays and is told to concentrate on the questions she needs answered. She then extends her hand and the psychic skillfully asks a few questions. An experienced psychic is skillful at reading body language and her customer’s response to a few probing questions. The psychic is then able to tell the woman a bit about her past and launches forth into a tale of the future. It has good elements of course, but there is danger that the woman needs to be aware of and avoid at all costs. The best advice she has to offer is to come again for a second, more extensive reading. If that is not an option, then perhaps the customer should buy a charm or candle to ward off the evil that surrounds her.

Psychic readings can be fun but should not be taken too seriously. There are few laws about psychic readings, consequently it is difficult to recoup hard-earned money once it has been spent. Have a reading for a laugh but do not rely on the advice of a psychic.
