Former American Idol contestant Jordin Sparks has received accolades for her robust singing voice for years--but now she's getting recognition for her amazing weight loss. As reported by AOL Music, the Sparkle star lost a whopping 50 pounds--most of it fat--but she didn't rely on fad diets or crazy exercise routines to get super slim. So how did she drop the pounds?
Jordin Sparks' Exercise Routine
Want to look toned but still curvy like Sparks? Although genetics play somewhat of a role in this, you too can get her bod with her cardio-intensive exercise routine. Here's how to get started:
1. Learn to love the outdoors. Sparks first got started with exercise by walking, and then eventually hiking and running. Here's how you can do it: Go outside and try walking for 10 minutes, going at a moderate pace. If you can't go 10 minutes, then just try to go as long as you can. Once you're able to handle 10 minutes easily, move up to 15 minutes, and then gradually increasing the time until you reach 30 minutes.
The great thing about walking is that it's really easy on the joints and can be done anywhere--so, no excuses about notdoing this exercise.
2. Try circuit training. Reportedly Sparks is a big fan of circuit training, especially P90X, as it gets her to pump some iron, develop functional strength, and increase her cardiovascular fitness in the process. The best thing about P90X specifically? You can do it in the privacy of your own home, with minimal equipment. Be warned, though: It's tough, and will definitely work up a sweat!
3. Vary it up. While Sparks tries to make circuit training and cardio a part of her daily routine, there are times where she varies it up--either to have more fun or to adapt to her crazy busy schedule. How she varies it up: Sometimes she'll take Zumba classes with her mom or relax with hot yoga, whereas other times she likes to work out with her training band, which allows her to do resistance exercises. In a hotel? Don't worry, she still has time to workout: She likes to use the bed to do pushups or use the local hotel gym.
