Portable mini disc players were very popular before iPods and cell phones that can play music. They allowed music lovers to carry around their favorite collection of music and enjoy listening to them anywhere. This device seems to be fading away, as they are quickly replaced with other portable devices that are smaller and have no need for discs. Recently, prices have fallen rapidly as the competition from other portable music players increases.
They are inexpensive, and for those who cannot afford to buy an iPod, the portable minidisc player can give almost the same service. Some music lovers own iPods, but still have a collection of CDs with their favorite music. A portable minidisc player will allow listening alone or sharing the music with friends. These lightweight CD players can be connected to headphones or bigger speakers that will make the music loud enough for a small party.
Since they can operate on electricity with an adapter or on battery, they are great for the beach or camping in places where electricity is not available. They can be easily connected to the speakers in a vehicle for entertainment at a tailgate party. Regular CD players can be too heavy to carry around. A portable mini player is a good option to continue playing your CDs whenever and wherever you want to listen to them. The popularity of iPods is increasing, and they are rapidly taking over the market. They are smaller than the portable CD player and can hold more music, but it is illegal to download music and buying music that you already own may be a waste of money, when you can still play your CDs anywhere. For people who must have the latest gadgets, the portable minidisc player may be considered a dinosaur, but if it works for you, get the most out of it and entertain yourself or your friends with one until there are no more CDs around.
Digital age.(Where everything is going digital)
No real statistics on this. With us being in the digital age, the capabilities of portable digital cameras and cell phone cameras, and websites like Instagram, Flickr, etc. readily available, pretty much anyone can be an amateur photographer at the drop of a hat.
Yes. Leapster is one brand that has learning games for their portable player that are appropriate for most ages. These games can be switched out depending on the age of the player.
This age is called the digital age because of the widespread use of digital technologies such as computers, smartphones, and the internet. These technologies have fundamentally changed the way we communicate, work, and live, making digital information and connectivity central to our daily lives.

Basically, if it's digital, it's electrical.
Technology changes rapidly. 10 years ago, if you were walking around talking about putting ‘MP3s’ on your ‘iPod,’ people would have looked at you like you had two heads. You would’ve been more concerned with procuring the latest compact disc released by your favorite artists. As music enters the digital age, the compact disc is still a very viable way to receive music. While many people now turn to buying albums and even single songs in digital versions off the internet, there are still those who prefer heading to their local electronics store to pick up the newest CD releases. Even though the CD is hanging in there, the portable CD player has pretty much died off. It’s a rarity to see someone walking around with their CD player on their hip. It’s usually a very small digital music player that you barely even notice. With the continued popularity of the CD, though, the portable CD player is not necessarily an outdated technology. It can actually be a great way to enjoy those brand new albums, especially while on the go or in the gym. You can still take your music with you, even if you prefer the CD format. Also, portable CD players are a very inexpensive way to take your music with you. While many digital music players can cost hundreds of dollars, even the highest-end portable CD player isn’t going to cost more than $50. You can take comfort in being frugal and still being able to enjoy your favorite music. The CD will decline as a popular music format eventually, especially as digital music continues to grow. For now, though, it’s still a great way to inexpensively listen to those CDs you’ve been stockpiling for the last 10 years.
