How To Paint Complementary Room Color Schemes?

Plain walls are fine for some people, especially if they plan to cover them with posters, but those who want an eye-catching room should consider complementary color schemes. Choosing color schemes is fairly simple and usually involves two different colors. With a few simple steps, a plain room will be transformed into an attractive personalized living space.Choose A Color SchemeThere are hundreds of color schemes; some are pre-matched, while others are created by the painter. Bright colors such as red, orange or yellow will create a warm look. Blue, green, gray and purple are considered cold colors; these colors will give a cooler look and feeling. To create a balance, it is recommended to choose one cold and one warm color. Most people choose to paint three walls one shade and paint the last wall a different shade. If the room’s desired look is warm, then a warm color should be chosen as the main shade; a cold color should be chosen as the complementing shade to be placed on the remaining wall.Prepare For PaintingOnce the paint colors have been decided upon and purchased, the room must be prepared for painting. To create a precise edge, painters should purchase a thin solid plastic sheet to use when painting along the edges of the room where the different colors will be meeting. Masking tape or painter’s tape should be placed around all windows, fixtures and the ceiling’s edges. Plastic must be draped on the floors at the wall’s base; it may also be taped to floorboards.Paint The WallsIt is best to start with the prominent color of paint. Paint should be mixed well with a stick before use, then poured into a pan. Using a roller, the prominent color should be run along the three desired walls it will be placed on. A hand brush may be used to touch up the corners. After 24 hours, the complementary wall may then be painted. Using the plastic board, the paint should be applied around all the edges first with a hand brush for precision; the rest of the area may be filled in with a roller.
