An incision may be closed with:

  • Sutures (stitches) on the outside of the body
  • Surgical staples, which provide added strength to the incision
  • Sutures on the inside, underneath the skin. Small sticky strips (called Steri-strips) may be placed on your skin across the incision line. These strips will fall off when the incision has healed.

What is the Difference between trims and closures?

Trims and closures refer to different aspects of garment construction and finishing. Trims are decorative or functional elements added to clothing, such as buttons, zippers, lace, or ribbons, enhancing the aesthetic or utility of the garment. In contrast, closures are specific mechanisms that secure the garment, allowing it to be fastened or unfastened, such as buttons, hooks, or Velcro. While all closures can be considered trims, not all trims serve as closures.
