An airline passenger recently noticed his pilot and copilot boarding without bags, but carrying iPads. He asked about the device and apparently, pilots everywhere are using iPads to replace as much as 50 pounds of paper reference materials that the pilot and copilot typically need on hand. Another 10 pounds will be saved when and if the FAA allows them to replace the aeronautical charts as well. Unfortunately, passengers are still prohibited from using their iPads during takeoff and landing.
So it can be more easy to carry around but the ipads are taking over the laptops
