While there is no proof that there is a specific Diabetes gene that can be passed on from one generation to the next, you are more likely to have this disease if it has occurred in your family. The best way to avoid diabetes in any circumstance is to stay at a healthy weight, eat well balanced meals, and exercise on a regular basis. Keeping your body in check from an early age is the best way to avoid any disease.
