Most of these people happen to be finance majors. Finance deals with money. It deals with figuring out the economy and when to spend and save money, as well as dealing with financial institutions and money management. Most universities offer programs that allow Finance Majors to graduate within four years, and within three years if the full amount of credits are taken. These majors will receive their Bachelors of Business Administration degree upon the completion of their coursework.

The salaries that finance majors receive are actually very generous. Because they are dealing with money, a very important commodity for business, they tend to get paid higher than their counterparts and coworkers. Finance majors can expect a starting salary of about $80,000 per year, with a higher salary upon completing their coursework for their Masters in Business Administration for Finance. The average amount of money that is made after about ten years as a finance major continues to be high at about $200,000 per year.

Being a finance major offers many different job opportunities with a lot of room to climb the company ladder. Finance majors are often hired as accounting clerks, which oversee the payment and receipts of cash in and out of a business. They are also hired as accounting managers and controllers, who head accounting and financial departments of large corporations. The very top of the ladder for a Finance major is the position of Chief Financial Officer, or CFO, who answers only to the Chief Executive Officer, or CEO.

Some majors decide to go a more public route. They usually become tax consultants or financial managers for people with a lot of money that needs managing. Many of them open their own finance firms that focus on lending money and helping people to resolve their tax and monetary problems.
