Before you have any sort of replacement surgery, you need to make sure that you mark yourself to let the doctor know where he or she is supposed to operate. You can do this with a pen or a marker. Simply write a message instructing the doctor not to operate on the wrong side, and write it at the correct site. The odds are high that the doctor will not make a mistake and will never see the message. These types of mistakes do happen, though, so you want to be sure to take precautions to keep yourself safe and healthy.
