Every year, one of the most popular degree programs in the world is marketing. Marketing, which is often a degree program that is included in a school’s business program, offers a student a wide range of career options. For most students, a bachelor’s degree program can easily be completed in four years or less. Associate’s degree programs will take only two years. Those looking to obtain a master’s degree should expect to spend at least six years in school.

Prior to selecting a major, those students who are considering getting a degree in marketing should get a full understanding of the coursework that is associated with the degree. As mentioned earlier, many marketing programs are included as a career path within a school’s business school. Because of this, a potential marketing student will have to take many different general business courses prior to getting into courses specified for marketing. Some of these courses will include marketing introductory courses, but will also include introductions to finance, management, and accounting.

Based on the school, most potential marketing students will have to apply for the business school before their sophomore year. Once the student is in the business school and the marketing major is chosen, most of the coursework will be geared with a marketing focus. While the actual courses vary from school to school, most marketing programs have similar core marketing courses. Many of the marketing core courses will be classes associate with theories of marketing and marketing strategies. Most marketing students will be given the chance to work on case studies where they will gain real life experience. Marketing degree programs will require a student to spend a lot of time studying alone as well as participating in larger group projects.

Once a student has completed their education, a marketing degree should lead to several different career options. Many marketing students will attempt to get jobs in advertising or working for a marketing firm. Others use their marketing skills and pursue degrees in sales.
