The sad fact about buying a skylight replacement is that you're probably not going to be able to find the exact make and model of skylight as the one you're trying to replace. If you had some sort of skylight that was domed or frosted or colored or tinted just right, well, you're going to have to free yourself up to fall in love with something a little different. Trying to find the exact same skylight twice is like trying to find the exact same hubcap, ceiling fan or tablecloth twice.
That said, you can always try to find one that you like even better. Here are a few steps to follow to find the best possible skylight replacement for your house.
Scrutinize the OldThink back to the old skylight. What was the one thing about it that bugged you? Was it hard to get open? Was it perhaps a little too dark in its tint? Was the dome shape a little too art deco for you? Whatever it is, you're looking for a flaw, a defect or a drawback of some sort so that you can make a point of correcting it with your next purchase. This ensures that even if you miss the old one, you'll have something about this one that you like better.
Start AnewDon't try to find one that looks or feels just like your old skylight. Look for a replacement that has its own style, its own look to it, and just try to match it to your decor. Trying to shop for a skylight with a single design or an existing one in mind is a little counterproductive, and to be honest, you're simply not going to find it. Unless you can get the manufacturer on the line, and they're still making that model, you're out of luck and you'll have to get something new anyways.
Basically, just shop for it the same way you would shop for an all new skylight, because shopping for a skylight replacement that looks exactly the same is a fool's errand.

You could get injured pretty bad or die cause I saw a movie called batman returns a lot of bats fly around the penguin and then he lost balence until he fell through a skylight in the sewer and he emerges from the water but drops dead on the floor from the injuries and poisoning but the penguin really died from the toxic waste in the sewer and falling through the skylight so if you fell through a skylight I think you could get injured or die From falling in a skylight

You put it on the roof of the house making it a small window... Kind of thing With consideration to the answer above, i will elaborate slightly. You can place a skylight in any section of the house providing that there is clear access from the roof to the ceiling for the shafting/ light tunnel to take ample affect. For example you must take into consideration the ridge capping of the roof and also the valley, as the flashing must be placed in a near position to where the skylight shaft and bottom roof opening wishes to be placed, for best light into the room
If you are talking about a small tool shed; then measure distance between the exposed 2x4 roof supports, find a skylight that will fit (the non-opening type are less expensive.) Find matching roof shingles (you won't need many), determine the flashing you intend to use, use your skylight as a template and draw the necessary cutout on the inside of the location. Drill whole from the bottom up through the roof shingles. Locate those holes and cut out the necessary opening, now use the skylight "footprint" to remove necessary shingles, find full shingles to remove. Mount the skylight and flash as per instructions, caulk where needed. Affix the new shingles. Test if necessary.
