Men and women alike are very vain about thinning hair or hair loss. Women may be even more upset than men. Some men don't worry about hair loss since some men even shave their heads.

There are surgical methods of hair restoration. This is the most effective way to restore hair. It is hair transplant surgery. This type of surgery can be very tedious and will be done over a matter of time. It's not going to be completed quickly. However, once it is finished, the hair will be natural and look like it was never gone.

The hair transplantation involves the removal of follicles from the parts of the scalp that still have enough hair, and then transplanting them to the bald areas. This procedure is also called FUE, as in Follicular Unit Extraction. Only a 1 mm incision is used to implant the follicles. There is very little or no scarring after the surgery is complete.

Other hair restoration methods are the expansion or reduction of the scalp. The expansion process uses a balloon-like device to expand the tissue. It gets implanted under the scalp tissue, is slowly inflated over 4-12 weeks, and expands the donor area. This process only works if the donor area has thick hair and the balding area is very large. After the scalp tissue has expanded enough, it is removed and re-sutured onto the bald area.

The reduction surgery is more popular because the whole process doesn't take as long. The tissue of the bald area is removed, donor parts are pulled over the area with the removed tissue, sutured, and shrinks the bald area.

Yet another method of hair restoration is the strip graft surgery. This is the most common of all of the hair restoring surgeries. This surgery entails surgically removing a strip of scalp tissue with the hair donor part sutured together. This strip of tissue is actually dissected right into the follicular grafts. After this is accomplished, the grafts are then transplanted into the bald area by using follicular unit transplantation.
